Reflection on the rotation

As this was my final rotation and the one I was looking forward to working in, this experience that I had at metropolitan hospital will be an unforgettable one. I saw so many different types of cases and patient populations alongside some of the best residents, attendings and PAs in the emergency department. I will mention that one of the hardest things that I am still working on is formulating my plan for the patients that I am treating. This is one of the most challenging aspects as a new PA and its something that I must continue to work on.

I will mention that having the opportunity to work alongside so many different providers made me feel that my learning was a great experience. Over these five weeks, I was able to perform many procedures, including splinting, placing IVs, venipuncture, suturing, cerumen impaction removal, and draining abscesses. By far this was my most favorite rotation out of the entire year and it has solidified my overall interest in emergency medicine and wanting to pursue a career in it.
